Initial Appointment

Your initial appointment will be comprehensive and may last up to an hour. It involves completing essential forms regarding your medical history and signing a consent form for subsequent treatment. Additionally, a Neurovascular foot assessment will be conducted prior to the start of treatment.

What is a Neurovascular Foot Assessment?

A Neurovascular Foot Assessment is a methodical evaluation conducted by healthcare professionals to assess the blood circulation in the extremities and to examine any potential damage to the peripheral nerves. This assessment is usually performed when there's a concern about impaired circulation or nerve injury, which could result in severe complications like compartment syndrome or amputation. Typically, this assessment is done annually, but it may be conducted as a preventive step to track patient conditions, assess risks, and determine if there's a need for Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) involvement or further diagnostic tests.

How often will I need Foot Care?

Routine visits every six to eight weeks are recommended for maintaining foot care, tailored to your individual needs. If you don't require regular foot care, your personal preferences and requirements will be accommodated.

Referral Process

Referral pathways are established to ensure the prioritization of the patient's best interests. If a referral to additional multidisciplinary services becomes necessary, you will be duly informed and included in the decision-making process regarding your care.

Cleaning Reusable Instruments

The cleaning process for reusable instruments adheres to the protocols established by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

This includes a three-stage cleaning process based on scientific evidence.

First, the instruments are manually scrubbed to eliminate debris.
Next, they undergo cleaning and disinfection in an ultrasonic cleaner.
Finally, they are sealed in pouches and sterilized at 134 degrees Celsius in an autoclave.
