Available Treatments

As a qualified Foot Health Practitioner, AKA (FHP), I am trained to provide comprehensive care solutions to address various common foot and nail conditions with precision and expertise.

Nail Maintenance

Regular nail care, including cutting, trimming, and filing, is advised to maintain comfort during mobility and can help preserve one's independence.

Callus/ Hard Skin

A build up of hard, thickened skin is not typically serious, but it can cause discomfort. Although it can be managed through reduction and removal, it often recurs.

Corns

A hard raised bump on the skin that can be painful. Corns, often recurring, are typically caused by friction. They can generally be managed through removal.

Athletes Foot

Fungal skin infections often appear as white, patchy areas between the toes and on the plantar surface of the foot near the toes. These areas can be sore, itchy, and flaky. While they can be effectively managed with over-the-counter medications. Fungal infections tend to recur, making ongoing maintenance essential for relief.

Verrucae

Warts, which commonly affect children, are a manifestation of the HPV virus. Often, they resolve spontaneously, and treatment is not recommended unless they cause discomfort. While treatment can be protracted, with patience and perseverance, it can be successful. Alternatively, quicker results might be obtained through other options available upon referral.

Fungal Nails

Fungal nail infections cause the nails to thicken and change colour. The affected nails may become soft and crumble easily. If a nail breaks off, the underlying skin might look white and patchy. The surrounding area can become inflamed and flaky, leading to discomfort. Although treating fungal nail infections can be a prolonged endeavour, they can be overcome with consistent effort and patience.

Diabetic Foot Care

Being diabetic increases the risk of foot complications. Elevated blood sugar levels can impair blood flow and circulation to the feet, slowing the healing process and increasing the risk of infection. Regular foot care maintenance can prevent most foot problems, particularly when sensation is compromised and visual inspection of the feet is challenging.

Nail Abnormalities

Nail abnormalities are often common and usually not a cause for concern. They can result from various factors, such as vitamin deficiencies. Injuries and trauma can affect the nails for some time after the incident, and there might not be any recommended treatment for them. Proper nail care can improve the appearance of the nails and make wearing footwear more comfortabcomfortable.

Involuted & Ingrown Nails

These types of nail conditions most commonly affect the big toe. They can become sharp, exert pressure, and pierce the skin underneath, which can be extremely painful. With maintenance, symptoms can be temporarily alleviated, but if they become prone to infection, referral for surgical intervention may be necessary.
